The final stage is here, the mood in the camp is excitable to say the least.  All runners have been moved by the last 4 stages, the scenery, the altitude, the inclines, the declines.

Many have injuries built up from the last few days – day 3 was especially tough, Deer Creek is a name no one will forget in a hurry!

All that remains is the relatively short hop from Aspen to Snowmass and the beautiful switch back that drops in to the village.  The trail starts with an incline and then levels out before dropping down, in short most of these guys wanted to give a sprint finish, exactly what we wanted when we designed the course.

The first of the runners to appear was inevitably Simon Grimstrup, absolutely flying down the hill, so much so he actually took off at one point!  Jonas Christensen was not far behind followed by Allan Leed, Camilla, and the rest.

Hurricane Carter put in an incredible performance and has promised she is going to sign up again next year to do the whole race!  Medals were handed out, beers were drank and stories exchanged.  We all knew this race was special, the inaugural event always has that special feel to it, and this one was no different.  It is going to be difficult for us all to get over the amazing rush of this, our toughest event.

Even the support staff are reluctant to admit that the adventure is over.  The after party took place in Snowmass where copious amounts of calories were consumed and not a little bit of celebrating was done.  A truly wonderful race with a truly amazing group of people.  Each of our competitor has been wowed by this beautiful but unforgiving course, the adventure and scenery are unparalleled, there is no race on earth like the Mountain Ultra.  The first and only self-sufficient mountain race in the world.
